Online study with RMIT: a student’s experience

Studying online with RMIT will advance your knowledge and empower you to progress in your career. It’s flexible, designed to fit around you and your commitments as a working professional. With six teaching periods per year, you can study when it suits you to take the next step towards an improved career path.

Our Master of Marketing student, Zofia Deschepper, recently shared her experience, thoughts and tips to prepare for online study.

As a new mother, Zofia wanted a course that enabled her to organise study around her work and her life-changing duties. Mindful of the impact of having a child might have on her career, she was looking for as much flexibility as possible in order to progress her career. She believes that she’s already benefiting from the knowledge that she has acquired so far.

“I want to become an excellent marketer, and I feel with RMIT, my career has already progressed,’ Zofia says.

”Through the support of my work as well as studying online through RMIT, I’ve been able to get promoted and I apply the things I’ve learnt everyday.”

Zofia enjoys the intensive seven-week structure of each course, and feels that the old perception of online study is just not true.

“I feel like there might be a perception out there that online learning is easier and it’s the easy way out. I feel that it’s actually quite the opposite. It’s an intensive seven-week course, so I think if someone is considering doing an online degree, just bite the bullet and try it out.”

At RMIT, we are committed to making the online study experience just as interactive and supportive as on-campus education. Your dedicated Student Success Advisor (SSA) will answer any non-academic questions and support you with your study. From preparing study plans to organising technological assistance, your Student Support Advisor is there to answer your questions and point you in the right direction.

Zofia also stresses that organisation is key to being a well-prepared and successful student. Your Success Advisor can help you with this, but it’s also up to you to stay on top of your coursework and tasks.

Whether you’re keen to build on your knowledge from your undergraduate degree or have been working for a decade and are now looking to formalise your knowledge to support career advancement, studying online with RMIT can work for you.
