We offer Recognition of Prior Learning, or the recognition of previous study or learning. This means you can apply for credit and reduce the number of courses you need to complete. Your application will be decided on a case-by-case basis. RMIT aims to grant as much credit as possible at the time of offer, so it’s important to provide as much evidence of prior study or work experience as possible with your application. Speak to our Enrolment Advisors to find out more.
*If your qualification was completed more than 10 years ago, you will need to provide evidence of ongoing professional work and/or professional development in the same discipline as the program for which you are seeking entry.
**Upon successful completion of the graduate certificate, you will have the opportunity to progress to the masters degree.

Our MBA ranking places our University in the top 200 (151-200th) globally and in the top 10 in Australia, according to QS Rankings by Subject 2021. In the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022, we have moved up four places to first on the graduate employment rate in Australia, and we were ranked 18th in Asia Pacific and 43rd globally for this key area.
You can enrol into our MBA program if you have a higher level qualification in a business related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution, with either a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 1.0 (out of 4.0) or a GMAT overall minimum score of 550. If you do not meet this entry requirement but have a minimum of five years' full-time equivalent work experience, you may be considered for the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration. Upon your completion of the graduate certificate, you can apply for the MBA program and receive full credit for the four units you have already completed. You can find out more here. You can also apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) if you don’t have any university qualifications but have work experience in areas that are covered by the MBA.
Our GCBA is designed to be completed in eight months, part-time, while our MBA program's length spans 2.7 years, part-time. You can take a maximum of three years to complete the GCBA, and five years for the MBA. However, you are required to apply for leave of absence, and at times you may need to re-apply to get into the program, but you can receive credits for what you have already studied.
If you have undertaken relevant prior study or learning, you can apply for this to count towards your current RMIT program. To determine your eligibility and how many credits you can get, contact our Student Enrolment Advisors who will assess your application on a case-by-case basis. They can be reached via the phone on 1300 701 171 or via email at futurestudents@studyonline.rmit.edu.au
