Advanced Standing
16 course Master of Business Administration
- An Australian bachelors degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 1.0 (out of 4.0).
OR
- An Australian bachelors degree (or equivalent), or higher level qualification in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution and a GMAT overall minimum score of 550.
12 course Master of Business Administration
- An Australian bachelors degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, in a business or related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 1.0 (out of 4.0)*.
OR
- An Australian bachelors degree (or equivalent), or higher level qualification in a business or related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution and a GMAT overall minimum score of 550*.
OR
- An Australian bachelors degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, from a recognised tertiary institution in any discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 1.0 (out of 4.0)* plus a minimum of two years relevant work experience.
OR
- The RMIT Graduate Certificate in Business Administration**.
We offer Recognition of Prior Learning, or the recognition of previous study or learning. This means you can apply for credit and reduce the number of courses you need to complete. Your application will be decided on a case-by-case basis. RMIT aims to grant as much credit as possible at the time of offer, so it’s important to provide as much evidence of prior study or work experience as possible with your application. Speak to our Enrolment Advisors to find out more.
*If your qualification was completed more than 10 years ago, you will need to provide evidence of ongoing professional work and/or professional development in the same discipline as the program for which you are seeking entry.
**Upon successful completion of the graduate certificate, you will have the opportunity to progress to the masters degree.
International students are required to provide current evidence of English language proficiency for admission to RMIT University. Australian Student Visas
RMIT's online Master of Business Administration does not meet Australian student visa requirements. For an Australian student visa, you must have an on-campus place in a program of study. For more details on RMIT's on-campus programs, visit rmit.edu.au.
Advanced Standing
RMIT assesses each student’s prior learning, qualifications and professional experience to provide custom pathways so you can complete your online postgraduate degree sooner. Gain credit for your relevant work experience and graduate even sooner with Advanced Standing. Your application will be decided on a case-by-case basis. RMIT aims to grant as much credit as possible at the time of offer, so it’s important to provide as much evidence of prior study or work experience as possible with your application.
Depending on advanced standing granted, you could complete your MBA online in as little as 16 months, part-time.

How does the MBA program rank globally?
If you do not have a university qualification or bachelor’s degree, you may be eligible to apply for the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration if you have a minimum of five years’ full-time equivalent work experience.
Upon your completion of the graduate certificate, you can apply for the MBA program and receive full credit for the four units you have already completed. You can find out more here.
You can also apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if you don’t have any university qualifications but have work experience in areas that are covered by the MBA.
I have neither university qualifications nor a bachelors degree. Can I still apply for these programs?
You can enrol into our MBA program if you have a higher level qualification in a business related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution, with either a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 1.0 (out of 4.0) or a GMAT overall minimum score of 550. If you do not meet this entry requirement but have a minimum of five years' full-time equivalent work experience, you may be considered for the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration. Upon your completion of the graduate certificate, you can apply for the MBA program and receive full credit for the four units you have already completed. You can find out more here. What is the longest timeframe I can complete the GCBA (Graduate Certificate in Business Administration) and MBA in?
Our GCBA is designed to be completed in eight months, part-time, while our MBA program's length spans 2.7 years, part-time. You can take a maximum of three years to complete the GCBA, and five years for the MBA. However, you are required to apply for leave of absence, and at times you may need to re-apply to get into the program, but you can receive credits for what you have already studied.
How do I apply for advanced standing or credits?
If you have undertaken relevant prior study or learning, you can apply for this to count towards your current RMIT Online program. To determine your eligibility and how many credits you can get, contact our Student Enrolment Advisors who will assess your application on a case-by-case basis.
